MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP- UNIVERSAL
|
Michael Schenker announces the release of his new album, scheduled for release on Atomic Fire Records under the programmatic moniker of Universal.
As we have come to expect from him, Schenker has once again enlisted a number of prestigious fellow musicians for the recording
of his new studio production, among them, as main vocalist Ronnie Romero (RAINBOW, VANDENBERG),who will also be MSG's frontman
on their upcoming tour,
Michael Kiske (Helloween) and Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear), keyboard player Steve Mann, drummers Simon Phillips,
Brian Tichy, Bobby Rondinelli and Bodo Schopf, as well as legendary bassists Bob Daisley, Barry Sparks and
Barend Courbois (Blind Guardian),with Tony Carey as a very special guest.
Compositional highlights abound on "Universal", from the haunting opener "Emergency" and the subsequent
"Under Attack" with its casually driving groove to "The Universe", featuring an atmospheric duet by Ronnie Romero and
Gary Barden, "Wrecking Ball", performed as brilliantly as ever by Ralf Scheepers, and "London Calling" with its homage to
the British capital's musical spirit.
The rock anthem "A King Has Gone" and its intro "Calling Baal" both have a special significance: The track, sung
by Michael Kiske, is a tribute to the immortal Ronnie James Dio, in particular to his performance on the 1976 hard rock
classic "Rainbow Rising". For this reason, Schenker has brought together an original RAINBOW rhythm section consisting of
Bobby Rondinelli and Bob Daisley, additionally enlisting keyboardist Tony Carey, who also played on "Rainbow Rising",
for a terrific Moog synth intro a direct reference to the iconic intro of the 1976 album opener "Tarot Woman".
The impressive result "Calling Baal"/"A King Has Gone" is already considered to be one of the most important and successful
songs in Schenker's career to date, both musically and lyrically.

MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP - IMMORTAL
|
Right in time for his 40th anniversary as a solo artist and his 50th birthday as a musician, he resurrects the immortal Michael Schenker Group.
Immortal is also the name of his new album, recorded by likely the strongest line-up in his long history.

Its a lightning bolt of an album that sounds fresh, bloodthirsty and agile.
Immortal showcases the gargantuan vocal talents of Chilean hard rock prodigy Ronnie Romero (Rainbow), backed by singers Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear),
Joe Lynn Turner (ex-Deep Purple) as well as Schenkers brother in arms, Michael Voss (Mad Max) who again produced the record alongside Michael Schenker flawlessly,
punchy and at full steam as if their very lives depended on it.
Next to Michael Schenker caressing his iconic black and white Dean Flying V, we hear bass player Barry Sparks (Dokken), keyboard player Steve Mann as well as
the three drummers Bodo Schopf, Simon Phillips (ex-Toto) and Brian Tichy (ex-Whitesnake) pumping gallons of fresh blood through the tracks.
And thats not all, keyboard wizard extraordinaire Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Black Country Communion) gives the listener a baptism of fire in the blistering,
heavy hitting opener Drilled to Kill, powered by Ralf Scheepers unbelievable vocal tornado. These are all very skilled people with their own studios,
Schenker says in his typical dry down-to-earth manner.

MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST - REVELATION
|
Michael Schenker Fest have announced a new album, Revelation.
The band's second LP, will be released via Nuclear Blast on August 23.
It was produced by Schenker and Michael Voss, and recorded and mixed by Voss at Kidpool Studio Greven & Kidwood Studio in Mnstertal, Germany.

Based on the fun that we had recording Resurrection, the success of the album and the surrounding tours we undertook that were just fantastic,
I was deeply inspired to start on writing new songs for a new Michael Schenker Fest album," Schenker said in a statement.
"It is even a step up from Resurrection with amazing input from all singers and all musiciansI could not ask for a better result.
The songs are blazing, snappy, energetic, melodic, and, with drummers like Simon Philips and Bodo Shopf, we got amazing results.
This time we even managed to record three great mid-tempo songs with all singers involved, singing their hearts out.
Of the album's title, Schenker said The album title and cover concept express things that have happened in my past as well as what is still happening at the present time.
Its about passion and purity versus greed and corruption. There is much to say. Its about time I let people know about some of this.

MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST - RESURRECTION
|
Previewed by the single 'Warrior' on December 1st, Resurrection took around five months to piece together, using multiple studios on both sides of the Atlantic. Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett appears on the albums opening track 'Heart And Soul'.
From the light and shade of 'Warrior' to the pacy 'Heart And Soul' via the commercial 'Night Moods' and 'Time Knows When Its Time' and Michaels instrumental piece 'Salvation', Resurrection is a fine, varied album. It is snappy and melodic, but its also dramatic and fast - all of the elements are there, states Schenker enthusiastically.
One of the best elements of Resurrection is the suitability for each singer to their chosen song, also the blend of the voices when performing together.
Each has something that the others dont, says Schenker.
All of the albums participants appear in the albums tongue-in-cheek cover art, a biblical-style concept.
Originally Michael wanted to call the album Michael Schenker Fest In The Studio with an album cover showing a big banquet table in a recording studio, waitresses with big bosoms, pints of beer and chunks of lamb in medieval style.
The thought occurred to Schenker at the very start of the record and gathered pace when Michael Voss-Schoen brought in a song called 'The Last Supper', though in the end they opted for an all-male gathering around a table featuring nothing more than Michaels trademark black and white Flying V guitar.

MICHAEL SCHENKER'S TEMPLE OF ROCK - ON A MISSION LIVE IN MADRID
|
During their world tour of 2015/2016, the line-up set up their Temple of Rock in the Joy Eslava theatre in central Madrid. Michael Schenker and his crew chose this unique location with care for the recording of this concert. The historical 3-storey musical theatre creates an especially intimate atmosphere between the musicians and their audience, one that would be felt musically and visually.
On the evening of 19/11/2015, a sold-out Joy Eslava saw convincing evidence of just how powerful and exciting a concert from Michael Schenkers Temple Of Rock can be. At the same time and this was the special feature of this night it became clear just how close the band and the audience were and how they drove each other on to even better performances. The musicians clapped along with the fans as they sung along to hits old and new with great enthusiasm.
All musical phases of Michael Schenkers career were included and the evening became a joyful party as well as a clear message of how positively Michael Schenkers music can enrich the listeners life. Just as the name of the venue in Madrid promises.
